Vision & Mission

A Place of Grace

At the center of all we do is grace, the word for the wide and generous love of God that is given to us, no matter what.  We accept one another as children of God and we strive to welcome others into this community of grace as we ourselves have been welcomed.

How We Worship

Our Lutheran-Christian tradition has its roots in the ancient patterns and practices of the Christian church that have been passed on for centuries.  These practices have taken new forms and expressions in each new time and place.

Redeemer is “liturgical“ in its worship, that is, we follow the yearly cycle of the liturgical seasons and festivals, with their corresponding readings from scripture. The word liturgy means the work of the people. Everyone has a special place in this most important “work“ we do.

At Redeemer, worship style varies. Our 8:30 Sunday service is the most formal (or “traditional.”) The 10;30 service follows the very same pattern, but features more contemporary worship music and accompaniment.

Word and Sacrament

As Lutheran-Christians, our access to this grace is through Word and Sacrament, that is, the word of God proclaimed and the “visible words“ of baptism and “the eucharist” (or holy communion) experienced and shared. The Holy Spirit is present in these things, and also present in each other, to create sustain faith in us.

Who Belongs?

It is easy for churches to say “all are welcome“ when what is often meant is: “all are welcome… to conform and to be like us.“ The work of inclusion in the body of Christ is challenging, and we don’t do it perfectly, but we strive to be a community with open hearts and open doors, so that everyone – whatever their identity – can feel welcomed and valued. As we say, this is God's house; there are no strangers here.

We encourage those who desire a deeper connection with a faith community to consider becoming a member of Redeemer.  (Follow this link to find out more.)  But membership is not required to participate fully in our community’s worship, educational or service opportunities.
