Computer Education

The weekly computer program offered at the Redeemer Christian School , has four stations where four students at a time can get individual attention in learning new computer skills and programs. The computer class is designed to introduce the basic understanding of how to use the computer properly, learn the main components of the computer, practice proper handling of the mouse, and how to navigate through programs effectively and independently. While learning these computer skills, the programs are age appropriate and reinforce what they are learning in their classes. Each age level has its own set of goals.

The three year old classes concentrate on using the mouse properly, practicing eye/hand coordination by moving the mouse, and clicking on the appropriate areas while learning their colors, numbers, letters, shapes, etc.

The four year old classes learn the different parts of the computer and practice their computer skills with programs focusing on counting, early math, alphabet, phonics, upper and lower case letters, sequencing, memory games, puzzles, sizes, patterns, and more.

The KEDS and STARS classes learn how to properly start up and shut down a computer. They are able to put in their own disc and navigate into the program to play. They also are introduced to the correct posture and hand positioning for proper keyboarding skills. Programs chosen are those concentrating on beginning reading, beginning math, listening comprehension and problem solving, sequencing, rhyming words, memory games, alphabetical order, money skills and much more.
